Ultima Online: Renaissance…At Walmart?

Deckard was out on a shopping run when he noticed something interesting in the rack of cheap, jewel case-enclosed software at his local Walmart: an apparently specific-to-Walmart edition of Ultima Online: Renaissance. There’s not much to be said about it; the back of the jewel case features a fairly generic and brief description of some aspects of Ultima Online, and using the code (which I have removed) that graces the back of the included booklet evidently entitles one to a free month of play.

That image always leave me feeling warm inside! The first UO game I bought was Second Age… I got it before I even had the internet because we were waiting for it to get connected. I had a written plan and everything for how I was going to start and what I would spend my first 1000 gold on! ALso how I was going to dodge the Lizardmen in Britain 🙂

It is things like this that really bring back feelings of nostalgia.

There is a guy/gal who wrote two books, one on Ultima and one on Ultima Online, which strove to include references to every version of Ultima ever made. Someone should notify him/her of this one in the event it was missed (with requested scans, etc.). Nice find.

Sanctimonia, these scans were the result of me scanning them for the new UO Collector’s Guide 🙂

9.95 value, that’s the old school price, must be an old gametime code, wonder if ancient gametime codes are still good…
